The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown

Arthur Brown is a rock Icon! He is recognized as an inspirational force in music. Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel, Kiss, and Geoge Clinton of P-Funk have all acknowledged his influence.
His dancing style was influential on his whole generation. His singing style also- for instance, Ian Gillan of Deep Purple says it was from Arthur he got the inspiration for his falsetto style. He is regarded as the First Goth. He was respected by hippies and punks alike. Later, he became the first man to use a drum machine as a live instrument, replacing his drummer with a Rhythm Ace in 1973.
His voice has been described as "one of the most beautiful voices in rock music." His presentation is second to none! This year he was awarded Showman Of TheYear by Classic Rock magazine.
He appears with accompanist, gifted multi-instrumentalist, Nick Pynn. He plays guitar, violin, bass pedals, theramin, cajon. But do not be misled! Due to the virtuosity of Nick and the wonders of onstage sampling, they present a hugely exciting and vast sound, and an adventurous visual show.
“I don't remember the Floyd as vividly as I remember Arthur Brown, 'cos I mean Arthur Brown, at that time, used to just stand there and insult the members of the audience in much the same way as people like Johnny Rotten.” John Peel
“We saw Arthur Brown and his Crazy World and the whole thing was just an eye-opener to me. He used to sing ‘I am the God of hellfire’ and then he’d set fire to his head. That told me a lot. I knew where I was heading from then on.” George Clinton
In 1968, wearing a flaming helmet and sacrilegious robes, Arthur Brown hit the number-one slot worldwide with his hit single “Fire.” The English singer has rained a volcano of influence on pop culture ever since. The original shocker has influenced everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Marilyn Manson, stopping off at Prodigy, Peter Gabriel and Alice Cooper en route.
Polly Marshall has produced an in-depth biography that probes every facet of Arthur Brown’s complex personality. What emerges is not only a portrait of a counter culture icon and sixties pop star, but also spiritualist, free thinker, painter and decorator, as well as notorious outlaw arrested for firearms offences and public nakedness.
Arthur Brown is one of England’s true eccentrics.
On the 4th October 2005 at the Cafe de Paris in London Arthur was presented with Best Showman Award mostly for the performance at the Astoria earlier this year. Among the people there were Jimmy Page, Deep Purple & Lemmy.
