| "The Worlds Greatest Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn" |
Stevie Ray Vaughan was, perhaps, the greatest blues guitarist of hisgeneration! Stevie Ray Vaughan, who died just 36 days short of his 36th birthday, played with blistering, note-bending intensity, a gut-wrenching vibrato and tons of soul. His all-too abbreviated legacy-five albums as a leader and a number of powerful sideman stints ended with a long overdue collaboration with older brother Jimmie Lee Vaughan (of Fabulous Thunderbirds fame), on the posthumously release Family Style. Stevie Ray Vaughan's life ended prematurely in a helicopter crash in Chicago returning to his hotel from a concert with Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and his brother Jimmie in August of 1990. Josh Kirkland has been performing for half his life! After cutting his teeth on Southern Rock and opening for most of the famous Southern Rock bands of the era, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, The Outlaws, etc., he found that his heart was drawn towards blues and immediately started listening to blues greats like Albert, BB King, Buddy Guy, Hendrix, Robin Trower and especially Stevie Ray Vaughan. He started learning S.R.V.'s songs note-for-note and once he started he couldn't stop!! Josh's performing style was very similar to the blues-master and he also resembled him. This, coupled with his awe of S.R.V., motivated him to form the amazing tribute show of Texas Flood after finding bass-master Keith Mc'alum who absolutely nails the Tommy Shannon style and Lee O'Neal, a smokin' drummer who is a natural for the Chris Layton style! Now you can re-live the blistering, note-bending intensity of a Stevie Ray Vaughan live performance as meticulously re-created and performed by Josh Kirkland & Texas Flood!!
